Amitosis in human adrenal cells.

چکیده
Adrenal pieces obtained from 3 female and 2 male patients showed morphological figures of amitosis in adrenal zona reticularis cells. Such aspects were observed in both normal and hyperactive adrenals. Nuclei appeared constricted, heavily stained, with coarse chromatin, sometimes scattered among cytoplasmic organelles, but never marginating in crescentic caps. Cleavage of the cells originated two halves with a nucleolus in each pole. Binucleated cells were also seen in zona reticularis. The meaning of amitosis in human adrenal is discussed.

Chromosome Copy Number Variation and Control in the Ciliate Chilodonella uncinata
Copy number variations are widespread in eukaryotes. The unusual genome architecture of ciliates, in particular, with its process of amitosis in macronuclear division, provides a valuable model in which to study copy number variation. The current model of amitosis envisions stochastic distribution of macronuclear chromosomes during asexual reproduction. This suggests that amitosis is likely to ...
متن کاملAmitosis-like nuclear division in erythrocytes of triploid rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss.
This work shows that the atypical erythrocytes in triploid rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss were morphologically similar to those of toads. The nuclei of the cells can be bell-shaped, constricted or irregular. It is presumed that such nuclear division is probably amitosis.

Amitosis, a direct method of cell division is common in ciliated protozoan, fungi and some animal and plant cells. During amitosis, intranuclear microtubules are reorganized into specified arrays which assist in separation of nucleus, despite lack of a bipolar spindle. However, the regulation of amitosis is not understood. Here, we focused on the localization and role of mitotic spindle assembl...

Amitosis in human donor corneal endothelium-a serendipity? SIR,-It is generally accepted that the human corneal endothelium does not usually replicate, Kaufman et all described a single dividing (amitotic) cell in the donor cornea of a 50-year-old man, and more recently Laing et aP reported a putative mitotic figure by clinical specularmicrographs in a case ofgraft rejection. They suggested tha...
متن کاملMetakaryotic stem cell nuclei use pangenomic dsRNA/DNA intermediates in genome replication and segregation
Bell shaped nuclei of metakaryotic cells double their DNA content during and after symmetric and asymmetric amitotic fissions rather than in the separate, pre-mitotic S-phase of eukaryotic cells. A parsimonious hypothesis was tested that the two anti-parallel strands of each chromatid DNA helix were first segregated as ssDNA-containing complexes into sister nuclei then copied to recreate a dsDN...
